Cylindrical and Spherical Goggle Lens Constructions

All goggle lenses on the market today are manufactured in one of two ways, with a spherical shape, or a cylindrical one. Cylindrical lenses have a relatively flat shape that follows the curve of the outside of a cylinder, and offer just a bit more protection from visible light than similar spherical lenses. The gold standard for yeas in the goggle industry, this time-tested design helps eliminates optical distortion and providing the user with a good field of vision. Spherical lenses however, are available on more premium frames, and are designed to follow the curvature of the human eye. This bubbled shape allows the lens to have almost no distortion, and eases the strain on the optic nerve by allowing the eye to focus more naturally. The shape of these lenses also widens the user’s field of vision.
